The suicide of Lindsay, 13, marked the whole of France. Victim of school harassment, the teenager from Vendin-le-Vieil, in Pas-de-Calais, ended his life on May 12. A drama that today pushes the government to take radical measures. “We are determined to act at all levels. Complaints must be facilitated and sanctions must be up to par. I want to build an interministerial response by July because there is harassment in the playgrounds but also the submerged part on social networks that we don’t see”, confided Élisabeth Borne, the Prime Minister, during an interview granted to our colleagues from the Figaro this Wednesday, June 14, 2023. “It is also about empowering parents. The educational community cannot be the only one to act”she added.
Particularly affected by the death of the young girl, Jérémy Bellet, ex-companion of Pierre Palmade, therefore took to his social networks in order to push a huge rant. The model thinks “related” and wonders. “How many more child suicides will it take before we act? School bullying kills! It’s a sad reality! I’m not asking you to become ayatollahs, but I really think that each of us is able to move in order to prevent, teach and warn about the deadly dangers linked to school bullying and discrimination”, he wrote in an Instagram story on Wednesday. A speech that obviously did not please everyone.
