The development of e-fuels in Germany has prompted Olaf Scholz, the German Chancellor, to plead his case with the European Union to postpone the ban on combustion engines in Europe by 2035.

After 2035, thermal cars could be used in the European Union if they use e-fuel. A synthetic fuel developed in Germany which, according to its promoters, would allow the continued use of thermal engines by reducing pollution by 90%. This consists of producing fuel from Co2, in particular emitted by manufacturers. A technology defended by high-end manufacturers such as Porsche and BMW.

Are e-fuels dangerous for health?

Olaf Scholz, the German Chancellor, even succeeded in having the text of the EU on the end of heat engines in 2035. A decision criticized by environmentalists. “A false solution for carbon neutrality and a danger to health”, condemns Karima Delli, MEP Europe Ecology. The new text should be submitted to the ambassadors of the member countries on Monday in Brussels.
