The City of Montreal recognized, in June 2020, the existence of systemic racism. In the process, it also created its Office for the fight against racism and systemic discrimination and undertook, last year, to “become an exemplary employer” in this area. However, employees, experts and unions still denounce the lack of action on the ground to eradicate racism within the municipal public service. Our journalist has collected the testimony of about thirty employees who have suffered racism at work, and who consider that they have been left to their own devices.
