Friday morning, we learned that the United States and Canada had agreed to amend the Safe Third Country Agreement. For supporters of the “closure” of Roxham Road, such as Quebec Premier François Legault, the agreement looks like a victory. According to this new agreement, which came into force the same evening, asylum seekers who cross the land border irregularly will be turned back by the authorities.
