The reduction in service, initially scheduled for June 14 to 17, will be extended until June 20.
The Integrated Health and Social Services Center (CISSS) of the North Shore announced in a press release that the Forestville emergency room will be closed between 5 p.m. and 8 a.m., until June 20.
He invites people who need to consult a doctor in the evening or at night to go to another emergency service closest to their home, in Baie-Comeau or Les Escoumins. In the event of an emergency, ambulance services will remain available, as will 911 calls.
People already registered, who have waited during the day for non-urgent care (priority scale P4 and P5), will stop being seen from 5 p.m. and will have to go to another emergency room. Transfers could also be made to Baie-Comeau or Les Escoumins.
For non-urgent health problems, the CISSS reminds that it is possible to:
- Dial 811 (Info-Santé/Info-Social) to speak to a nurse or social worker, or to be redirected to an appropriate service
- Make an appointment with your family doctor.
- For clients without a family doctor, call 811, then option 3, to access the First Line Access Desk (GAP)
