Baie-Comeau Drakkar defender Émile Chouinard suffers from Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
This is what his head coach, Jean-François Grégoire, announced on Saturday. “We know that he will lead this fight against the disease with the strength, character and tenacity that we know him to be and we will support him every step of the way,” he said.
Aged 20, Émile Chouinard is in his fourth season in Quebec junior hockey.
“I don’t know my treatment plan today, so I’m still hoping for a return to the playoffs. I also want to continue playing while waiting for my treatments to begin. Whatever happens, I will be a proud Drakkar and I will stay close to the team in the coming months. Despite this ordeal, I remain confident in the future,” he said in a press release.
