“We thought the only way to take weight off our bags was by putting it on us so we started putting on our jackets and coats,” said Adriana Ocampo, 19, according to the report. New York Post on Wednesday.

What might have been a smart plan for globetrotters on a budget soon turned to the young adult and her friend, Emily Altamura, who reportedly donned more than 13 pounds of laundry each – the equivalent of 15 different garments – for their Jetstar Airways flight.

Dressed in their gear, pockets full of clothes, they would have proudly presented themselves at the counter with their luggage containing only two pairs of shoes, a bag, a pair of jeans and a few stockings, they would have described.

But despite their efforts, and in front of a line of impatient travelers, the company reportedly told them that they still had to pay the $65 difference for the additional items.

“While we certainly see the fun side, we have limitations to make sure it’s fair for everyone. Keeping an eye on the amount of luggage passengers bring on board means everyone has room for their personal belongings,” a Jetstar Airways spokesperson said.

The two young girls were thus forced to fly with their mountains of clothes, for the entire duration of the 80-minute flight between Melbourne and Adelaide, their hometown in Australia. “That’s how I get on the plane. I’m crying with laughter,” Adriana Ocampo allegedly launched in a video according to the New York Post.
