During the night of October 23 to 24, torrential rains fell on the Var and the Ardèche. On Tuesday, residents observed the damage.

The extent of the damage gives an idea of ​​the power of the wind. It was 5 a.m. on Tuesday, October 24, when the residents of Vidauban (Var) were awakened by a deafening noise. A mother just had time to get to safety with her son. “All of a sudden, my bay window exploded. It felt like half was gone”, she laments, still moved. The house became uninhabitable. The family had to be relocated. In total, around thirty homes in the area are affected.

Torrential rains in Ardèche

A large tree fell on the gate of a house. “We can’t go out. We have the experts who have to come. The pruners have to come tomorrow, because they are overwhelmed”, testifies a man. 300 kilometers away, in Ardèche, downpours devastated part of the village of Rochessauve. The equivalent of a month’s rain fell in less than an hour, causing several landslides. Six houses are now inaccessible by car. Around fifteen residents found themselves stuck.
