A flood record on the Vienne measured at more than nine meters. Near Chinon, the river overflowed twice in a few weeks. In Côte-d’Or or Saône-et-Loire, floods of unexpected magnitude. Burgundy is facing exceptional floods due to record rainfall in March. It rained two and a half times more in Indre-et-Loire than normal and three times more in Burgundy.
Global warming
An exceptional episode which is not over. The Yonne is still largely out of its bed. This phenomenon remains rare on a scale today, but global warming could make these floods much more frequent, according to climatologists. In the future, certain areas spared from flood phenomena could be affected.
