Monday October 23, the departments of Alpes-Maritimes and Isère are once again on rain and flood alert. In isolated villages impacted by storm Aline, residents fear further damage.

It is now on foot, on a dirt and stone path, that they carry shopping bags and children at arm’s length. Part of the temporary road, put in place after storm Alex, was swept away by the waves on October 20. The inhabitants of the small village of Venanson (Alpes-Maritimes) are once again cut off from the world. As soon as the workers are at work, new precipitations are expected Monday evening. In the valley, the excavators were expected to have finished the work by Wednesday at the latest. However, the new weather alerts are delaying a return to normal life for these residents.

Work in Saint-Christophe-en-Oisans

In Isère, in Saint-Christophe-en-Oisans, the excavators are also busy. The road to access the village gave way on October 20. It is passable again. But faced with the new rains forecast, it was necessary to speed up the work in the river bed. These new precipitations are feared by the mayor. Only seven people out of the hundred inhabitants remained in the village. Tuesday evening, they prepare with wood for heating and lighting.
