Since April, all category L vehicles, including cars without a license, have been subject to a technical inspection. However, this measure reveals a blatant lack of maintenance of these vehicles.

A month later, the first assessment remains mixed. The technical inspection for category L (mopeds, 2 and 3 wheels, motorcycles, quads and cars without a license) came into force on April 15. In total, more than a million people are called upon this year to carry out their first regulatory technical inspection in approved centers.

And one month after the measure came into force, the findings are worrying: 30% of cars without a license have been rejected. The rate is 19% for light vehicles and around 10% for motorcycles. Vehicles put into circulation before January 1, 2017 have until December 31, 2024 to comply. Motorists who do not carry out the technical inspection on time risk a fine of 135 euros.
