Back to class: Quebec will provide rapid tests for high school students

The Legault government intends to provide rapid screening tests to high school students. Quebec planned this week to offer only at the primary level these rapid tests, on which the strategy for reopening classes is based.

“The situation will be corrected. […] People in secondary school, if they are symptomatic, will have to have access to rapid tests, “said Dr. Yves Jalbert, Deputy Director General of the Public Health Protection Department, during a meeting with the media on Friday.

“We have changed our strategy for using tests and we must respond to that,” he said. The mechanism for distributing the tests to the secondary remains to be specified. Quebec has ordered 130 million rapid tests, explained Dr. Jalbert.
