Jamiroquai is the band that revived funk music 25 years ago, mixing it with pop, disco, and even electro. On the occasion of this anniversary, his emblematic album comes out.

Jamiroquai and his singer with the improbable hat have given a facelift to disco and funk. With references like the group Chic or the queen of disco Donna Summer, the group quickly found his recipe. “Hip pop (…) has brought covers back into fashion, and also sounds with somewhat forgotten instruments. Jamiroquai was one of the main architects of this return to funky”, says Belkacem Meziane, author of “We tea One : the story of funky in 100 albums”.

In his first success in 1993, the singer of the group, Jay Kay, visionary, speaks of a land martyred by men. He imposes his style and denounces a crazy world with its title Virtual insanity in 1996, a funky languorous. The singer hasn’t released anything for five years, but his time in the studio this winter may be hiding new disco vibes.
