(Naples) Canadian golfer Brooke Henderson hopes to be able to ignore health problems and participate in the last tournament of the LPGA season.
Henderson gave no explanation Saturday when she withdrew from the Pelican Championship. On Tuesday, the Ontarian said she suffered an upper back injury.
She explained her withdrawal in a statement, adding that her intention was to rest as much as possible but that she still planned to participate in the Tour Championship. This tournament will be held from Thursday to Sunday at the Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida.
Henderson ranks fourth in purses on the LPGA Tour, and sixth in the world rankings.
The 25-year-old Henderson has won two tournaments in 2022, including the Evian Championship, one of five major tournaments on the LPGA Tour, on July 24. For Henderson, it was the second title at a major tournament in his career.
With 12 victories at the professional level, Henderson ranks first in the history of golf in Canada, women or men.
