Bach Before Bach, C. Siranossian, B. Máté and L. García Alarcón

Perfect complement to our recent Bach overview, this CD highlights the Sonatas for violin and basso continuo BWV 1021 and 1023, the Adagio of the BWV 1024 and the Fugue of the BWV 1026 with composers who were able to nourish the inspiration of Bach. The traditionally mentioned source is Heinrich Biber (1644-1704) and his Rosary Sonatas. But he was not the only one, as shown Victori der Christen, from its counterpart Schmelzer, and the fabulous Passacagliaby Johann G. Walther. Chouchane Siranossian does not fail to return to Italian sources at the beginning of the 17th century.e century, with Carlo Farina, who came to export his art to Dresden. Dream partner in this project, Leonardo García Alarcón, on the harpsichord, thinks that, in his sonatas, Bach “pays homage to everything that was invented in the 17th century.e century and opens the door to the XVIIIe century ”. Freedom in the conduct of sentences also comes from the idea that “sung music, in Bach’s time, is omnipresent in the brains of composers”. Useful and very successful disc.
