In South Africa, baboons are currently invading the town of Simon’s town in the southwest of the country. They move through streets, gardens and into houses where they are able to turn everything over to find food. Reporting.
Simon’s town is a small town of 6,000 inhabitants, located on the waterfront in South Africa. It is apparently peaceful, but has been troubled in recent years by very invasive baboons. They are increasingly entering gardens and even homes. They sneak inside in search of food, and sometimes quietly help themselves from cupboards, devour everything they find and wreak havoc in kitchens.
“They eat everything”
This is what happened to Alain, a Frenchman who has lived in South Africa for years. “They eat everything, they crunch everything”, laments the man. The monkeys regularly cause damage to his home. “It’s impressive, it’s a little scary”, he says. For others, the experience was much more traumatic. In a video, we see a tourist being attacked. The monkey does not hesitate to jump on him.
