With Cock me, the punk princess returns to her roots. Saturated guitar, explosive chorus: Avril Lavigne’s new track ticks all the boxes of pop-punk, a genre that propelled it to the height of fame at the turn of the 2010s, and which has made a resounding comeback in recent days.

At the beginning of November, the Canadian singer had joined the record company of Travis Barker, the drummer of Blink-182. She also collaborated on the last track of Willow (Will Smith’s daughter), G R OW, and Flames from Mod Sun, both heirs of the punk sound.

Released in 2019, Avril Lavigne’s latest album, Head Above Water, more sober than the previous ones, had not found an echo.
