Aviron Bayonnais climbed into the Top 14 after beating Stade Montois (49-20) this Sunday in the Pro D2 final in Montpellier. Revenge for Bayonne, who had never beaten Mont-de-Marsan this season. Stade Montois, whose last Pro D2 championship title dates back 20 years, was however the favorite.
Aviron led at the break 20-10 and continued to widen the gap in the second half. Rowing scored six tries to dominate the Montois, who will have a second chance to go up in a week, during the play-off against the 13th in the Top 14, whose regular season ends this Sunday evening.
