AVIGNON / The carousel of the Place de l’Horloge

We are visiting Avignon intramuros this week with my reports. Expo, opera house restored as new, cat bar, hat shop classified as historical monuments and today… we are offering you a carousel ride.

In 1979, the Theophilos family acquired a carousel, you know those famous colorful merry-go-rounds with their wooden horses. At first they took him from funfair to funfair until he was installed on the Place de l’Horloge in Avignon. At the time, in France, there were only two left in office. Today, it is the son Laurent Théophilos who takes over, forty years later…

Foreign tourists are the most numerous, with children of course, to ride the carousel of the Place de l’Horloge in Avignon. Americans and Japanese love taking pictures of him, as well as the cat, a real cat, who has been living on the merry-go-round for 8 years!
