“If you observe a dead animal, it is important not to touch it,” warned the regional public health department (DRSP) Gaspésie–Îles-de-la-Madeleine in a press release Thursday afternoon.
Cases of avian flu have been confirmed in at least two birds found in Gaspésie, mentions Public Health.
A first case of avian influenza was confirmed in the MRC of Bonaventure on Monday, on a crow, Radio-Canada reported.
“It is also brought to the attention of the DRSP that several dead birds, gannets, have also been seen on the beaches of the Magdalen Islands by citizens,” writes the Integrated Health and social services (CISSS) of Gaspésie.
The CISSS invites the public to report animals found dead to 1-844-ANIMAUX (264-6289).
