Rising transportation costs and rising production costs are among the reasons cited by the government corporation to justify this decision.

“As I’ve had the opportunity to mention in recent weeks, our suppliers are facing significant challenges while inflation is reaching peaks all over the planet. Our teams have rigorously negotiated with our suppliers in order to maintain the necessary balance between offering a fair and competitive price to our customers and meeting the legitimate demands of our suppliers who must meet significant challenges,” said the President and Chief Executive Officer. of the SAQ, Catherine Dagenais, in a press release published Monday.

Beaujolais, Burgundy and Loire wines are among the regions most affected by this increase.

During an interview with La Presse a few weeks ago, Luc Bourdeau, vice-president of the SAQ’s supply chain, mentioned that producers, faced in particular with problems related to transportation and difficulty in obtaining supplies of bottles and labels, had asked for price increases.

He then recalled that some producers, if they do not obtain the desired price, could shun the SAQ. “If we don’t accept the price, we may be deprived of the product. »
