After the legislative elections, the portrait of the National Assembly reveals new balances, particularly in terms of average age and parity.
The new National Assembly and the newly elected deputies reveal new balances. Gender parity is far from being achieved, since 215 women were elected against 362 men, or 37.3% against 62.7%. On the other hand, this Assembly is the youngest that the Fifth Republic has known, with an average of 48.5 years. Two deputies are also only 21 years old – a record for precociousness.
As for socio-professional profiles, senior executives remain the most represented, with 174 deputies. A clear overrepresentation compared to the French population. Conversely, only 5 workers and 2 students were elected. The renewal rate of the Assembly is lower than that of 2017, which had been historically high at the time and had reached 75%. This year, 47% of them are taking their first steps in the hemicycle.
