Avatar 2 continues to engulf the North American box office

(Los Angeles) Avatar 2 continues on its cruising speed at the North American box office by placing itself at the head of the gondola for the fifth consecutive week with 31 million dollars in revenue, according to provisional figures published on Sunday by the specialized firm Exhibitor Relations.


Set more than a decade after the events of the first film and set in an aquatic space, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2009 sci-fi hit has racked up over $1.3 billion globally.

It is followed by a horror film which maintains its second rank for its second week in cinemas: the thriller M3GAN starts again this weekend with 18 million dollars after a start well beyond analysts’ expectations.

M3GAN tells the story of a creepy humanoid robot designed – but obviously not very reliable – to be the perfect companion for a young orphan girl.

Puss in Boots 2: The Last Quest, ranks third on the podium with $13 million in revenue for its fourth weekend in theaters. In this children’s film from the world of the saga Shrekthe feline embarks on an epic adventure to restore its nine lives.

Fourth, we find The worst neighbor in the world, which recorded nearly $13 million in revenue for its third week. Adapted from the novel Old, grumpy and suicidal: life according to Ove by Swedish author Fredrik Backman, actor Tom Hanks plays the role of a grumpy pensioner who mellowed by meeting his optimistic neighbours.
