The Pepsi Center is a fortress this season and the Colorado Avalanche proved it once again on Saturday in Denver, beating the surprising Pittsburgh Penguins 3-2.

This time, it was defenseman Devon Toews who ruled in favor of the Avalanche. Goaltender Darcy Kuemper saved 38 pucks in the team’s third straight win.
The Avalanche thus show a record of 28-4-3 in front of their supporters, the best record in the circuit in such circumstances. When they score the first goal of the game, as was the case on Saturday, the local favorites have not lost in regulation time.
Not easy
However, this victory was not easy to obtain since the Penguins tied the game twice. Sidney Crosby quickly responded to a net from Mikko Rantanen in the second period, plus Mike Matheson hit the target after Nicolas Aubé-Kubel got there.
The Quebecer thus put an end to a scarcity of 17 games without points. His 16 points in 55 games allow him to establish a new personal mark.
Tristan Jarry was tested 38 times in defeat. The Penguins will however have the opportunity to take revenge quickly since the two clubs will meet Tuesday evening, in Pennsylvania.
