The seventh wave of Covid-19 continues to spread in France, Saturday July 2, with more than 200,000 new contaminations recorded on average each day. Some hospitals are reinstating the limitation of visits, as in Auxerre.
This is the new measure at Auxerre hospital (Yonne). Visits are now limited to a maximum of one hour per patient per day, by appointment only. Across France, Covid-19 contaminations increased by 54% in one week. In question, the new variant Omicron, extremely contagious. Here, around forty patients currently hospitalized are positive for Covid.
There are more positive cases and fewer caregivers, with departures on vacation but also sick leave. “We have an absenteeism rate of around 11%, to which we must add 25 professionals suffering from Covid-19“, says Cyril Martinez, director of care at the Auxerre hospital center. For the moment, all consultations and medical acts are maintained, but this could change if the health situation were to deteriorate.
