Trying to find out in advance the composition of your child’s future class? The authorities advise against it. According to them, fraudulent sites promise to reveal to parents who their child will be in their future classmates at the start of the school year, but their aim is to retrieve the Internet user’s personal data, France Bleu learned on Wednesday, August 21. Two websites were targeted by the authorities: “VoirMaClasse.com” and “RevealClasse.fr”. They became inaccessible on Tuesday at midday.

“The end of summer is coming with the preparations for the start of the school year, the scammers are waiting for you”for example, calls on the gendarmerie of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques. “These sites, which use the visual codes of official government sites, are traps designed to steal your personal information, without any class list in sight!”adds the prefecture of the Pyrénées-Orientales.

To steal your personal information, which is then resold on the Internet to advertising agencies or other criminals on the dark web, these fraudulent sites asked Internet users to give their first name, last name, city and school of the child concerned. They also make people believe that they are carrying out a check to see if you are a robot or not by asking you to install applications or to subscribe to competitions.Never disclose personal information on unofficial sites”recalls the national gendarmerie. “If in doubt, contact your local police station.”
