While territories are taken over by Ukrainian forces in the east of the country, families find themselves without their children who have remained in Russia. This is the case of two families that the 20 Hours was able to meet.
It’s a list of 7,754 names. Children are claimed by the Ukrainian authorities from the Russians. These minors remained in territories occupied by the Russians and were even sometimes moved to Russia. Tuesday, October 4, in a village taken over by the Ukrainians two weeks ago, live Yuri, Tatiana and their daughter, of whom they have no news. At the end of August, 9-year-old Polina boarded a bus bound for Russia with 13 other children. The trip was organized by the pro-Russian town hall.
The town hall then took the children to a summer camp on the Black Sea. She convinced both parents to entrust their daughter, because the village was bombed. The children should have returned in mid-September, but with the village retaken, the Russian border closed. Their neighbor has also sent her daughter to a colony, she is afraid that the Russians will refuse to return her child to her. She has not spoken with her child since she left. The town hall never gave the address of the camp or even a telephone number. Since the start of the war, 56 minors have been repatriated.
