Every day, the 23 Hours of Franceinfo unveils the most important information in the heart of European countries. With its low vaccination rate, Austrian caregivers have decided to mobilize to speed up the process.

In Austria, it is time for protest. The caregivers decided to take to the streets to sound the alarm in favor of vaccination against Covid-19. With Christmas approaching, medical staff across the country fear they will be overwhelmed. “No serene Christmas without a vaccine”, can we read on a sign. “If the vaccination rate does not increase, we will have a winter like the last two years, and it is no longer manageable”, says Sandra Stelzer, an Austrian nurse. So far, only 62% of the population has received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Poles protest mine closure

If Poland is in the news for its standoff with the European Union, the country is shaken by another protest within it. Thousands of Poles have decided to demonstrate against the closure of a coal mine. After a pollution complaint from Czechoslovakia, Poland is forced to close the mine which provides 7% of the country’s energy and thousands of jobs. The European Court of Justice imposes a fine of 500,000 euros per day on her until she complies.
