Highlights from the Antalya Muaythai Cup
From December 4 to 8, Antalya, Turkey, hosted the prestigious Antalya Muaythai Cup, featuring 538 athletes from 28 countries. Among them, two athletes represented KSF Gym Leoben. Rebecca Hödl participated in her tenth international tournament of the year, having previously clinched third place at both the World Championship in Patras, Greece, and the European Championship in Pristina, Kosovo.
In the finals, Rebecca (-51kg) showcased her technical prowess against a Turkish opponent, ultimately securing the tournament victory. Elisabeth Hauzinger (-71kg) earned a silver medal after a close match against the reigning European champion from Hungary. Günter Plank, the chief referee of Europe, officiated the event.
Austrian athletes collectively shone, achieving two golds, one silver, and two bronzes, placing Austria second overall, just behind Turkey. Chairman Günter Plank praised the athletes’ outstanding performances, attributing their success to the dedicated training and support from KSF Gym Leoben’s coaches.
As the KSF Gym team wraps up a successful year, they are set for a brief hiatus before resuming competition on January 4 at the upcoming Fight Night in Weiz.
ESV Leoben’s Bowling Challenges
In a recent match of the 1st Bundesliga East, ESV Leoben faced off against the current leaders, KSK Klagenfurt – Magdalensberg. Unfortunately, it was a tough day for the Leoben bowlers, who suffered a significant 1:7 defeat. Gerhard Plank stood out as ESV’s best performer with 598 pins.
The team will regroup and return to action on January 11, 2025, during the first spring round, facing off against KSK Klagenfurt – Magdalensberg at home starting at 1 PM.
Mika Wurm Crowned Styrian Champion
In a thrilling display of skill, Mika Wurm from Trofaiach claimed the title of Styrian Champion in the U14 male category at the Styrian Championship in Sport Climbing (Lead) held in Mitterdorf. The 12-year-old athlete showcased incredible endurance and technique while tackling challenging climbing walls that soared to 19 meters, securing a well-deserved victory.
Boxing Successes at KSF Gym Leoben
Recently, KSF Gym Leoben hosted the ASKÖ State Championships in boxing, featuring eleven matches representing various clubs. The event was marked by the triumph of Nino Dalipovic, who won the state championship title in the Youth category up to 80 kilograms. His teammate Nicusor Ciorcirla earned second place in the Elite category up to 71 kilograms. Additionally, KSF athlete Tatjana Zivkovic-Hirtler made a successful ring debut in a sparring match, further showcasing the talent nurtured at the gym.
Rebecca Hödl also had a noteworthy experience at the WAKO European Championship in Athens, where despite an early exit, she later excelled at the IFMA Muaythai European Championship in Pristina, securing a commendable third place.
Looking ahead, Rebecca will compete in the international Spartan Muaythai Cup in Budapest next weekend, showcasing the ongoing dedication of the KSF Gym athletes.
Community Engagement: A Successful Autumn Trip
In celebration of camaraderie, FC 2000 KFZ Winter Leoben-Lerchenfeld organized its annual autumn trip. Twenty-two members enjoyed a scenic bus ride from Trofaiach to Altenmarkt, culminating in a delightful wooden raft journey on the Enns River, complete with delicious grilled specialties. This engaging experience fostered team spirit and strengthened community ties.
