(Melbourne) Ukrainian qualifier Dayana Yastremska beat No. 27e top seed Emma Navarro 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 to advance to the fourth round of the Australian Open on Saturday.
With her victory, Yastremska equaled her best result in a major tournament.
The 93e world racket won their match in one hour 46 minutes. She will play against the 11e in the world Jelena Ostapenko or the double major champion Victoria Azarenka.
Yastremska had lost in the first round in her last seven major tournaments.
“I felt pretty nervous,” said Yastremska, who hit 36 winners.
Anna Kalinskaya defeated Sloane Stephens 6-7 (8), 6-1, 6-4.
Kalinskaya had five aces in the match, compared to two on Stephens’ side.
