(Melbourne) After winning 6-3, 6-2 in mixed doubles with American Nathaniel Lammons, Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski did not have to play her women’s doubles match with Erin Routliffe at the Australian Open.
The duo, seeded fourth, took advantage of the retirement of Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Veronika Kudermetova to advance to the third round.
Dabrowski and Routliffe beat Ashlyn Krueger and Linda Fruhvirtova 6-1, 7-5 in the first round.
Dabrowski is ranked seventh in the world in doubles, while Routliffe, who lives in Montreal, is ninth.
Quebecer Félix Auger-Aliassime is the only Canadian still in the portrait on the singles side.
He has a meeting with the third racket in the world, Daniil Medvedev, in the third round. The match is scheduled for around three a.m. Montreal time.
