Australian Open | Auger-Aliassime wins in his first match

(Montreal) Canadian Félix Auger-Aliassime advanced to the first round of the Australian Open on Tuesday, defeating Emil Ruusuvuori of Finland in five sets, 6-4, 0-6, 3-6 , 6-3 and 6-4.

The Russian Daniil Medvedev started his tournament in brilliant fashion by defeating the Swiss Henri Laaksonen in three sets of 6-1, 6-4, 7-6 (3), Monday.

Second-seeded Medvedev needed just one hour 54 minutes to dispose of his opponent.

The 26-year-old lowered the flag in the 2021 Australian Open final against Novak Djokovic.

Fellow Russian Andrey Rublev defeated Italian Gianluca Mager in straight sets 6-3, 6-2, 6-2.

The fifth seed will face Lithuanian Ricardas Berankis in the second round.

In a duel of two Frenchmen, Richard Gasquet managed to overthrow Ugo Humbert in four sets of 3-6, 7-6(4), 7-6(3), 6-3. The game took place over three hours 18 minutes of play.
