Aurillac abandons the bus ticket for a contactless card

“I go up, I validate”. This is the new slogan of the Trans’cab network to mark this change. The good old bus ticket disappears from this Monday in favor of a rechargeable contactless card. A transition period is still planned for January when old tickets will still be accepted.

The renewal began in December. All year round subscribers have received a new card. Monthly subscribers must exchange their traditional coupon for a card when renewing their subscription. Finally, occasional travelers were able to get this card at the store or at the Stabus headquarters, which is still possible in the coming weeks. And for those who still have unused paper tickets, they will be credited to this new card.

A 2 € breakdown ticket

The first card is free. On the other hand, a second card will be chargeable in the event of loss, damage or theft. It can be recharged on the internet or at the Stabus store. The prices do not change; the single ticket costs € 1.40. It will still remain the possibility to buy a breakdown ticket on board a bus, this time at 2 € uros.

The great advantage of this contactless card is that it allows intermodality between transport networks. In other words, it can be used for other trips than only the Aurillac bus network. An intermodal exchange hub is being built next to the station, it will be completed in June. The card can be used on both Stabus lines and TER (trains and buses) from February, with a 10% reduction on both subscriptions. It will also be valid on regional interurban lines from the start of the September school year. This is why the Auvergne – Rhône-Alpes region finances 80% of 290.000 € uros of investment what does this new device cost.
