After four unsuccessful matches, the DFCO returned to victory on Saturday 5 March, beating SM Caen 1-0 on Gaston Gérard’s pitch. Striker ? Mickael Le Bihan, author of his fourth achievement this season. His partner in attack, the DFCO’s top scorer this season, Aurélien Scheidler, received the “February player of the month” trophy before the match, elected by the votes of the supporters. He was the guest of 100% DFCO on Monday March 7, 2022.
Aurélien, you took a hit against Caen at the end of the match, how is your ankle?
Yes, it’s much better, it’s a blow on the ankle, but it hasn’t turned. It’s a blow, I recovered wellI iced well, I will be there in Valenciennes on Saturday.
After four games without a win, this success against Caen must be a relief?
We were a little out of victories, we had trouble winning. She did us good. We had a good game, all we remember is victory.
From now on, it would be necessary to add the way to the result…
It’s true, it’s hard to have the way and the victory. We work on it daily, to have the way AND the victory against Valenciennes Saturday.
Next week, with three matches, including two against direct competitors (Valenciennes and Amiens) promises to be intense!
The victory against Caen does us good, we will play three games in one week. Everyone will have to be concerned because inevitably there will be turnover. Everyone is concerned, everyone is ready.
How do you enjoy playing with Mickaël Le Bihan, who has a profile similar to yours?
When Patrice Garande arrived, he immediately told us that the complementarity between the two of us was going to be complicated. Because of the injuries, he plays a little more with me. We didn’t play together a lot, so it’s true that in terms of connection, we had a little trouble finding each other. We didn’t know how one played, how the other played, so obviously it was a bit complicated at first. As the matches progressed, we tried to get to know each other, to find a connection. It’s getting better, and I think it’s going to get better and better.
Off the field, do you get along well?
Yes, frankly he’s a great guy, we get along really well, we often laugh together, so there is no problem on that!
Your coach Patrice Garande explained that in the fall he put you on the bench to revive Mickaël Le Bihan, when you deserved to play. How did you take it?
When you are a competitor, it is inevitably disappointing. I wanted to play the matches, to contribute to the team, to score. It’s obviously disappointing, but that’s when you shouldn’t let go. I kept working and I think it paid off. I’m pretty happy about that.
Depending on injuries, the team tends to change often. Is it complicated when you are in the field?
I think it’s still more of a handicap, we play with certain players that we don’t necessarily know. There aren’t really any connections yet. I think there are some players who are still quite affected by the end of last season. It is a year of transition. We’re going to try to hold on as quickly as possible and next year get back on a good footing and play for the top of the table.
Aurélien, you have been the undisputed starter for seven games. How not to fall asleep, not to fall into comfort?
You always have to find slightly higher goals, try to score again, to play good games. I haven’t scored for four games, I’m a bit down. The 10th goal is symbolic for me, maybe I’m putting a little pressure on myself. Once I have marked this one, I will manage to put others. No matter how the 10th will be, I hope to give victory to the DFCO on Saturday against Valenciennes!
You are in contract until 2024, how do you see the future? In red”?
For the moment, I don’t really worry, I’m doing my season. We’ll see by the end of the season, we’ll see how it goes, and we’ll see for next season. The objective is to try to stay as much as possible in Dijon. We have a good group, we all get along really well. I don’t feel bad in this team, I hope to stay as long as possible in Dijon. Next year we will have other objectives and we hope to go for the climb.
