Aurélie Bourven plants a tree when she makes a piece of furniture

“France Bleu is committed to our forests” this Wednesday, November 24 with the portrait of a designer from Plouigneau in the trégor (29): Aurélie Bourven created in 2017 her self-business which smells of the seaside and its trees: Seawood Design. The young woman’s workshop has been operational since January 2021 and she imagines log furniture, simple furniture, tables, bedside tables, stools in light, brown or burnt-effect softwood, in an eco-responsible way.

Aurélie collects local species from sawmills 20 km away from her home, but also from private individuals after a strong gale or works with the Coastal Conservatory, which provides for the necessary tree felling in Roscoff (29). The young 35-year-old craftsman tries very little to transform the wood by highlighting the veins and fibers, especially local conifers such as red cedar (thuja), poorly regarded except for garden hedges, which smells good and advantageously replaces teak. come from Asia.

This surf fan has in fact gone from being a communications manager in the sailing world, in particular for Vendée Globe skippers … to the woods in her native region. Wanting to leave this world of communication that was becoming digital, and wanting to furnish her house, she did not find to her liking. She therefore embarked on the manufacture of her own furniture.
