Auger-Aliassime loses in third round of Australian Open

The journey of Quebecer Félix Auger-Aliassime ended in the third round of the Australian Open tennis tournament.

Auger-Aliassime was defeated in three sets of 6-3, 6-4 and 6-3 by third seed Daniil Medvedev on Saturday in Melbourne.

The Russian will face Nuno Borges in the fourth round, who defeated the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov (no 13) 6-7 (3), 6-4, 6-2 and 7-6 (6).

There are now no more Canadians on the singles draws at the Australian Open.

All attention is now focused on Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski, who did not have to play her women’s doubles match with Erin Routliffe.

The duo, seeded fourth, took advantage of the retirement of Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Veronika Kudermetova to advance to the third round.
