Quebecers have won the honors of the Canneséries festival, which celebrates international or new TV series in France.
The creators ofAudrey came back, which tells how a young woman comes back to life after spending 18 years in a coma, won both the Dior grand prize and the special performance prize for a long series. Directed by Guillaume Lonergan and written by Florence Longpré and Guillaume Lambert, the TV series notably stars Florence Longpré, Josée Deschênes and Denis Bouchard. Comedian Rosalie Vaillancourt received the Dior Newcomer Award for her role in the short series Ctotally high school.
Audrey came back and Completely high school were the first Canadian fictions in competition at the Cannes International Series Festival.
Audrey came back had already drawn praise in the magazineTele-Leisurewhich spoke of “true enchantment”, “delicate writing” and “subtly balanced humor”. missfor its part, reported a “tender and very funny” series, proof “that you can do very good things with very simple things”.
VStotally high school is based on an idea by Rosalie Vaillancourt and Pierre-Yves Roy-Desmarais. The series, which takes place at the high school in New Garden Hills Valley, a suburb of Chicago, was first shot in English, then dubbed.
This is the Israeli series The Lesson which won the award for best series. And it was Maya Landsman who received the prize for best interpretation for her work in this same fiction. The prize for the best screenplay was given to the German series souls. The Belgian series hacksmeanwhile, was awarded the prize for best short series.
This is the fifth edition of the Cannes International Series Festival, also known as Canneséries.
