Which would you choose between the Audi Q5 and the Acura RDX? I currently own an RDX but if you recommend the Q5 instead, it would be my first German vehicle and I fear the maintenance costs.

Hello Marie-Helene,
The Acura RDX like the Audi Q5 are two very convincing products. On the Acura side, you’ll have more space and comfort, while with Audi, a slightly sportier and sharper ride. The RDX is also distinguished by its dynamic qualities which are much more impressive than those of the previous generation model. On the one hand, because of the liveliness of its engine, on the other because it benefits from an awfully more efficient all-wheel drive.
At Audi, you will also notice that the Q5 has taken some wrinkles. It’s still a very attractive product, but expect a complete overhaul soon. As for reliability, we can rejoice in the fact that it is one of the most reassuring Audis in this regard. That said, it is clear that maintenance costs and the risk of failures are higher than at Acura.
Now, if you take a lease for a maximum of 48 months, you won’t have to pay anything more on Audi’s side. The maintenance plans are reasonable and the basic warranty covers the vehicle for the duration of the lease, in the same way as at Acura.
Therefore, not knowing the details of your needs, I would go so far as to say that for the long term, you will probably be more satisfied with Acura.
However, if you are used to replacing your vehicle every three or four years, listen to your heart instead, because there are no wrong choices here.
