For three days, from March 19 to 22, cinema tickets are five euros. In Orléans (Loiret), the spectators are there. “The price is really interesting, encouraging. There are three of us all the same, so that’s a budget to come and see a film”, comments a mother. The Printemps du Cinéma price remains attractive, but has been increased by one euro for the first time in seven years. Marc-Olivier Sebbag, general delegate of the National Federation of French Cinemas, defends a necessary measure for exhibitors.

Two million spectators for the Printemps du Cinéma 2022

The objectives remain the same by allowing access to the cinema to all and to give a spotlight on the films of the moment. Filling theaters is important in a context that is still difficult for French cinema, which has not yet returned to its pre-pandemic level. The start of 2023 still remains promising with, over the first two months, attendance up 40% compared to the same period in 2022. A year that had seen two million spectators travel during the Printemps du cinema, a figure that the organizers wish to exceed.
