Attempted murder in Montreal | 22-year-old suspect arrested in Vancouver

A 22-year-old suspect was arrested in Vancouver in connection with an attempted murder that occurred in September 2021 in the borough of Rivières-des-Prairies-Pointe-aux-Trembles.


Chad Daniel Vatyl, 22, was repatriated to Montreal yesterday by investigators from the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM).

He appeared this morning at the Montreal courthouse to face charges of attempted murder, conspiracy, discharging a weapon with intent and having taken a seat in a vehicle inside which there was a prohibited firearm.

This is the fourth arrest made by the SPVM in connection with this event which occurred on 1er September 2021. That day, around 4:15 p.m., several men were boarding a vehicle from which several shots were fired at a man sitting in front of a house.

The latter managed to take shelter. While fleeing, the suspects had an accident which forced them to abandon their vehicle. Three of them were finally arrested shortly after, while a 4e suspect had managed to get away.

Etssin Exavier, Gerry Alexis Marc and Jeffrey Fort were all three arrested in the hours following the event and subsequently accused of attempted murder. They were then respectively aged 19, 22 and 23 years old.
