Attempted murder: an 18-year-old Montrealer shot and injured in the South-West

An 18-year-old man who was the subject of an attempted murder Wednesday evening in Montreal’s Sud-Ouest borough remains in critical condition in hospital.

The Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) was alerted around 10:40 p.m. by 911 calls about gunshots heard on Delisle Street, near Atwater Avenue.

Dispatched to the scene, police officers and paramedics from Urgences-santé provided assistance to the victim injured in the upper body by at least one firearm projectile.

The young man, who was conscious when the police arrived, was transported to a hospital where he is in critical but stable condition, said SPVM spokesperson Jeanne Drouin.

The police officers who met with witnesses to the event on site located at least one shell casing on the balcony of a home on Delisle Street, between Charlevoix Street and Atwater Avenue.

An important witness was arrested and kept in custody by the police, and should be met by investigators to find out his involvement in this attempted murder.

A security perimeter was erected to protect the scene while awaiting investigators and forensic identification technicians, who will have to shed light on this attempted murder.
