Attempted kidnapping in Quebec: a man still wanted by the police

A suspect who allegedly plotted to kidnap a person with the help of three other accomplices is actively sought by Quebec police.

The investigation by the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) began on March 27 with the arrest of four individuals in the Beauport sector.

The latter had in particular in their possession compressed air weapons, a bulletproof jacket, an electric shock weapon (taser), brass knuckles and burglary tools.

“The investigation that followed established that the suspects were about to kidnap a victim and that they had plotted to commit this kidnapping a few days before,” explains Sandra Dion, spokesperson for the SPVQ.

Equipped with a warrant, investigators therefore proceeded on Thursday to the arrest of Mathieu Boivin, a 26-year-old man who was released on a promise to appear. Marc-Alexandre Ouellet, 24, who was also arrested, appeared during the day.

The two other suspects in this case, however, could not be found. Friday morning, Virgile Beaulieu-Chartier, 31, was finally located in the Cité-Limoilou sector.
