A real blow for the public who was happy to see the interpreter of Come, we love each other, who canceled his performance at the last moment. Indeed, just hours before performing in this city in northern France, the 33-year-old artist announced the bad news from his Instagram account. But without giving more details… Instead of his performance, the spectators could see a video of the singer apologizing for not being able to be present.
“Sorry, I have no other words. (…) I hope to see you again very soon”
But what happened? Actually, the coach of The Voice Kids was at the same time in Brona town near Lyon where he took part in a festival in partnership with M Radio, JazzRadio and Radio Turn. A concert where he represented French song, in this event also mixing jazz and variety. This Friday evening, July 7, the singer therefore explained it from his Instagram account: ” I’m sorry. I’m stuck in Lyon, I won’t be able to be at the concert in Calais. We tried everything, my teams, the radio, everything was done so that I could be there on time but I won’t be on time. Even if I do the best of the best, I will arrive an hour after the end of the concert. Really, I apologize from the bottom of my heart to the radio, especially to the public. Sorry, I have no other words. (…) I hope to see you again very soon”, he explained.
“Alas, I do not yet have the power…”
Despite his apologies, some Calais residents deeply regretted Slimane’s absence from this long-announced concert. And some did not hesitate to contact him directly, via Instagram, the day after the cancellation, to express their deep disappointment. To one of them, Slimane wanted, from a story posted on his account this Saturday, July 8, to respond personally. Displeased, the fan wrote to him: “Slimane no word, the people of Calais are not good enough for you, very disappointed”. And the artist revealed by The Voice to tackle it, under the title “The human being in all its splendor”: “Alas, I do not yet have the power to manage storms and to fly, I have been coming to the North for 7 years and I come here with great pleasure, I had a concert just before, I couldn’t take off on time, it’s unfortunate but not my fault”.
