HAS 2 p.m.Monday October 16, in all the schools of France, the same meditation: a minute of silence. A solemn moment, the importance of which is explained by the supervisors. Some establishments have chosen to read an extract from Jean Jaurès’ letter to teachers. The teachers also took the time to interact with their students. “We can answer a lot of questions. But we cannot answer questions like: ‘Why do people commit terrorism?‘”assures Aline Mattanaprofessor of history and geography.
Reinforced vigilance
Questions, a need for explanation and information that take time. For the moment, in middle and high schools, it is still shock that predominates. To protect students, teachers and school employees, security is further strengthened. “We have much greater vigilance”says Jérôme Adam, a college principal. For this minute of silence, the Prime Minister was at sides by Gabriel Attalin Conflans-Sainte-Honorine (Yvelines)at the college where Samuel taught Paty.
