Attack in a concert hall in Moscow: the Islamic State claims responsibility for the attack

Ambulances and police cars are parked at the foot of Crocus City Hall (Moscow, Russia), Friday evening March 22, after the attack on a concert hall. The roof of the building is on fire. Moscow emergency services evacuate the first injured. It is 8 p.m. local time, in the room, spectators are settling down when we hear a scream in the distance, then gunshots. Some take refuge under their seats, others try to escape via the stage. In the middle of the rows of the room, men machine-gun the crowd. Some spectators filmed the scene, despite the panic.

A major fire

At least four heavily armed people entered the concert hall and fired at point blank range. When the gunfire stopped, spectators took the opportunity to escape. There are many bodies on the ground. The provisional toll shows at least 40 dead and around a hundred injured. The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the attack. The fire is still raging at Crocus City Hall in the evening, a water bomber helicopter and firefighters have been deployed. The Kremlin denounced a “bloody terrorist act”.
