Attack against Leonardo Rizzuto | The two suspects officially arrested

The two men suspected of taking part in the attempted murder of Leonardo Rizzuto in March were arrested on Monday morning by officers from the National Organized Crime Squad (ENRCO).

Kevin Rochebrun and Steve Emmanuel Barthélémy, the two suspects pinned by the police, had already been arrested by the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) in this case.

Rochebrun, 32, had already been sentenced to three years in prison in the past after the failed attack on Montreal mobster Marco Pizzi.

The man linked to the gangs had already been arrested in Mascouche last April in connection with the attempted murder of Rizzuto. However, he was released. The 30-year-old recently attended the funeral of mafia Francesco Del Balso. The latter had also been arrested at Montreal-Trudeau airport in connection with this attempt. He has since been murdered.

The two alleged accomplices are expected to appear at the Laval courthouse in the morning and face charges of attempted murder and conspiracy to murder.

Leonardo Rizzuto, 53, was shot while driving his black Mercedes SUV on Highway 440 West. The event occurred on March 15 around 4:30 p.m. The occupant of a black Porsche Macan allegedly fired several times at the victim’s car.
