ATP Cup | Spain, Poland and Argentina remain unbeaten

(Sydney) Spain, Poland and Argentina maintained their perfect ATP Cup records with wins of 3-0 on Monday, their second consecutive wins in the team tournament.



Robert Bautista Agut won the match for Spain by beating Norway’s Casper Ruud 6-4, 7-6 (4). Previously, Pablo Carreno Busta defeated Viktor Durasovic 6-3, 6-3.

Bautista Agut now has a 9-2 record in singles in this event.

“Casper plays amazing tennis. He gave an incredible performance last year, and today I must have played really well, said Bautista Agut during his on-pitch interview. I returned his serve well, made very few unforced errors and played aggressively. ”

Kamil Majchrzak meanwhile gave Poland the lead over Georgia with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Aleksandre Bakshi before Hubert Hurkacz won – 6-7 (5), 6-3 , 6-1 – against Aleksandre Metreveli.

” He [Metreveli] played well in the first set and things were not going my way. But I improved my game with each set and I’m happy with the win, ”said Hurkacz.

Argentina defeated Greece as Federico Delbonis defeated Michail Pervolorakis 7-6 (5), 6-1. Diego Schwartzman came from behind to post a 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-3 victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas.

All three teams went on to win their doubles matches to win 3-0.

Poland and Argentina can secure a place in the semi-finals when they face off in the final group match on Wednesday.

Chile remain at the height of the fight for a place in the semi-finals following a 2-1 win over Serbia.

The winners of each of the four groups of this tournament which brings together 16 teams advance to the semi-finals on Friday and Saturday, and the winners will meet in the final on Sunday.
