In Przemysl, Poland, French volunteers work with Ukrainian refugees. Their collective has already enabled the evacuation of more than 300 people to France.
Among the refugees in Przemysl (Poland), near the Ukrainian border, a group of French volunteers got organized. They organize convoys between Poland and France with their collective. Elisabeth Chapelle, general practitioner, arrived on site a few days ago with equipment. It now helps and guides Ukrainians seeking asylum. “For me, it was inconceivable that there were 25 trucks leaving with food, clothing, and that no one was brought back”she explains.
Dozens of families show up to try to board. Among them, many women with children. “We come from Kyiv (Ukraine), and we can’t stay there”said a young girl. “In France, I would like to find work, and a school for my children, to learn French life”, confides for his part a mother. The three coaches fill up in a few minutes. One will go to Paris, the other two to Besançon (Doubs). They were entirely funded by donations.
Since the beginning of the war, the collective has enabled the evacuation of more than 300 Ukrainians to France, specifies the journalist from France Télévisions, Thomas Cuny, present on the spot.
