The far right is a danger for women: this is what tens of thousands of people came to proclaim in the streets on Sunday June 23. Feminist associations, NGOs and unions were present in the processions.
Almost everywhere in France, the streets were draped in purple. In Paris, Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine), Nantes (Loire-Atlantique) and even Lille (North), thousands of demonstrators marched against the National Rally on Sunday June 23. They responded to the call of some 200 feminist associations faced with the danger for women’s rights that, according to them, a victory of the extreme right in the legislative elections could represent. “The idea of the RN is to put women back in the kitchen“, says Corinne Trael, demonstrator.
Earlier in the week, Jordan Bardella addressed French women in a video on X, in which he claims to be committed to their rights. The message angered feminist circles. “These are 30 RN deputies who refused to vote for the entry of the right to abortion into the French Constitution“, recalled Sophie Binet, general secretary of the CGT. Around thirty marches were organized throughout France.
