At the AC/DC concert in Paris, the nostalgia and rediscovered pleasure of the fans of the Australian group

Rock still runs through their veins, even after more than 50 years on the road. The band AC/DC gave a highly anticipated concert in Paris on Tuesday night, at the Longchamp racecourse, the only French stop on their “Power Up” tour.

Maybe it was because they had been expected in France for 8 years, or because it was the return of Brian Johnson, the singer replaced by Axl Rose during the last tour. The Australians of AC/DC started their concert in Paris, Tuesday August 13, ten minutes early. And when it’s time, the bell never fails to announce Hells Bells and a succession of lightning tubes.

In the crowd, thousands of fans wearing the famous and expensive (20 euros all the same) luminous devil horns. Two days after the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games, there was the equivalent of a Stade de France (80,000 spectators) on the Longchamp racecourse, transformed into an immense festival meadow with official shops, bars and restaurants.

“When we went on holiday, it was AC/DC in the car so we were immersed in it.”

“It’s a gift from my two sons for my birthday this year, so it’s a bit of a special event.”says Emmanuel, stars in his eyes. “When we were little, when we went on holiday, in the car it was AC/DC on the road so we were immersed in that. It’s something so we’re happy to do that together”reports his son, Wilhelm.

On stage, if Brian Johnson, apparently recovered from his serious hearing problems, has more difficulty reaching the high notes, the energy remains crazy and Angus Young tortures his guitar in his eternal schoolboy outfit.

And there was a sense of urgency. “It will surely be one of the last tours, but it remains legendary. There is always this energy deployed around it and it is seen in relation to the people, the population who can be there to be able to come and see them”reports a spectator.

Everyone had their own reason to come and applaud AC/DC on Tuesday night. “I run a bar, I’ve been playing rock for 26 years, I play AC/DC every night”says a fan. A giant concert, on a site that did not necessarily offer optimal conditions for seeing the stage, far from the eyes for some spectators but still close to the ears. AC/DC, rock in all its excess.
